Students celebrated 100 days by creating at STEM centers!
To celebrate the 100th day of school, 3rd and 4th grade read 100 AR books and took a test. They absolutely loved learning new things while reading non-fiction books. Here's to 100 days of learning and continued reading. 🎉

3rd grade used graham crackers to build a garden to reinforce their understanding of area and perimeter. They may have also eaten some of their materials in the building process.
3rd and 4th grade have made their predictions for the final score between the Chiefs and 49ers. Monday we will see who got the closest.
In STEM class, kindergarten students designed, built, and tested their snow shovels.
After learning all about sound and how it’s made the 1st and 2nd grade students created their own instruments using things they brought from home!

3rd and 4th grade worked collaboratively to complete a webquest over the history of Groundhogs day. Punxsutawney Phill is correct 40% of the time and we are hoping an early Spring will come.

7th & 8th graders have been reading the novel Petey. Students wrote their own talking points before meeting in their literature circle groups to discuss the talking points.

So proud of our Shawnee students that had to carefully and safely walk up the hill to meet the little bus after the big bus got stuck on the icy road. Everyone arrived at school safely with new stories to tell! Special thanks go out to our terrific bus drivers!
Due to upcoming weather forecast and impending cold temperatures, Shawnee R-III will be closed tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 12th. This will be AMI day #1.
3rd and 4th grade enjoyed an ice cream snack in celebration for meeting their AR reading goals and also for me (Ms. Larsen) earning my Masters of Education in Language and Literacy. My 4th graders have been helping me with assignments from the start and even were part of my research project/ dissertation. They truly got me through my program!
3rd and 4th grade have really enjoyed the new puzzle table in my classroom!
