Seventh and eighth graders worked with partners to solve algebraic equations while also applying order of operations skills to determine unknown values for variables presented in a nonstandard model. They found this approach to equations to be a lot more fun than solving for the standard x or y variable.
3rd and 4th grade rotated in groups reading and answering questions related to pumpkins. They were tasked with using and applying comprehension skills/strategies in order to answer the questions.
Lane, 4th grader, brought in a model airplane to share with the class. He built this with no instructions or kit. He was proud to show off his building skills with the class.
5th & 6th graders are using the skills they have learned about gathering evidence and justification to solve “The Brannon Theater Mystery.” They will be gathering clues and evidence to determine who is responsible for all the crazy things happening at The Brannon Theater. They will then have to write a claim, support it with evidence, and finally, justify their evidence.
The fifth and sixth grade students worked collaboratively to problem solving a variety of math questions using vertical surfaces.
The Kindergarteners enjoyed a movie and treats today.
The fifth and sixth grade have begun learning about the phases of the moon. They practiced the phases using Oreos this week.

1st and 2nd grade students started their animal research for our class book today. Each student has their own animal to research. At the end of the unit students will publish a class book with their research.
The Kindergarten students have been learning about life long ago. They had a great time making pictures to show what life looked like long ago.
The seventh and eighth grade students have worked to cut out and assemble the human body systems. They had read and research in order to explain what the various organs do and how they look in order to create an accurate model.
1st and 2nd grade practiced new math skills with a new math game. They love it!
Students participated in health screenings conducted by Henry County Health Center.
The Kindergarten class learned some more new Secret Stories this week.
The 7th and 8th grade students are learning about the body systems during science. They are creating posters to share ideas about the systems. They worked in small groups sharing information to answer questions and interpret how the systems work together.
Students in first and second grade got to partner read their stories for this week.
Kindergarteners finished ABC Bootcamp today and are working on writing skills. Next week they will begin Word Family Bootcamp and sight words.
Students in 7th & 8th grades are working in small groups during Social Studies to complete an investigation project. Students were tasked with analyzing four theories that explained what happened to the Maya Civilization. Next, they had to choose which theory they believed to be true. Finally, they are creating a presentation to explain their claim and justify their opinion. In addition, they will provide tips to future civilizations on how to avoid their own demise.
